New Feature in Microsoft Teams: Management of Teams numbers (Direct Routing) Teams Admin Center
Microsoft Teams is getting a long-awaited new feature that significantly simplifies the management of Direct Routing numbers in the Teams Admin Center. Starting mid-February 2025. It’s the “management of Teams numbers in Teams direct routing setups. Administrators will be able to manage numbers directly in the Admin Center, making the process much more efficient and user-friendly.
Main Features
Finally, number management is possible: Administrators can now centrally manage phone numbers. This means that all phone numbers can be organized and monitored in one place, making management much easier and saving time. Currently Admins need to manage numbers “offline” in Excel Sheets or in other tools.
One-time upload: Phone numbers can be uploaded via CSV file, entered as a number range, or added individually. This flexibility allows administrators to choose the most convenient way to import and manage phone numbers.
List View
A list shows all existing numbers, including those already assigned to people or resource accounts. This real-time information helps administrators keep track and quickly see which numbers are still available. So never again lose time with the management of numbers in your tenant.
Quick assignment
An unused number can be assigned to a person or resource account with two clicks. This simple and intuitive method saves time and reduces the complexity of managing phone numbers.
Availability
The new feature will be available from mid-February 2025. Administrators can look forward to using these new functions soon to make their work even more efficient and effective.
Voice-enabled Channels in Teams stay
Another important update concerns the voice-enabled channels in Teams. Microsoft had announced at the end of 2024 that this feature would be discontinued in mid-2025. However, due to customer feedback, Microsoft has reversed this decision. The voice-enabled channels will therefore remain available.
