Teams telephony with an E-SIM – what is it?

With this solution, you can make calls to/from your Teams landline number directly from your iPhone or Android device without needing the Teams app. This has important advantages, as you can use all the functions of your iPhone or Android device with Teams (e.g. ringtones, idle times, in the car, etc.)

The product is called “Easy Mobile Connect” and is an extension of your existing Microsoft Teams phone number that allows you to make calls directly from your mobile device. You keep your Teams phone number and can make all calls (including internal Teams calls) directly from your mobile device without having to use the Teams application for calls. We offer you two eSIM solutions that allow you to replace your current mobile subscription completely (including unlimited data in 39 countries) or as a second eSIM for Teams Voice in addition to your existing mobile subscription.

You can find more information and options on the product page.

*Easy Mobile Connect can only be used by customers who use the TwinCap First Teams Direct Routing solution in Germany/Switzerland.

Microsoft Teams voice enabled channels will be discontinued by Microsoft as of 30.06.2025

Microsoft has announced in the Message Center that it will discontinue voice-enabled channels for Microsoft Teams Phone as of June 30, 2025. Until now, these VECs have enabled collaboration between agents in a channel while calls are in the call queue.

Why is Microsoft doing this?

The voice-enabled channels feature for handling call queues in Teams is no longer supported as the new Microsoft Queues app for Microsoft Teams offers more functionality. However, the Queues app requires a license for Teams Premium and Teams Phone. Unfortunately not a bargain, but you get value for money.

Effects

After discontinuing voice-enabled channels, users will still be able to join or leave call queues and view call queue membership via call settings and channel membership. However, the Queues app will be the only way to view and manage the status of call queue members.

Update of the prices for Microsoft Teams Phone

New prices as of April 1, 2025: The prices for Teams Phone Standard will be adjusted to USD 10 (CHF/EUR not known yet). This price adjustment reflects the continuous investment in improving the Teams Phone services. Other Teams Phone plans, such as Teams Phone with Calling Plan, will also be updated accordingly to ensure a consistent pricing structure. Existing customers with current licenses will retain their current pricing until the next renewal. New customers who purchase Teams Phone licenses after April 1, 2025 will receive the updated pricing.

Standardization of monthly billing prices

Microsoft is now also offering Microsoft 365 CoPilot as a monthly subscription from December 2024 (instead of only as an annual prepayment as before). However, a new pricing model has also been announced. What currently only applies to CoPilot annual subscriptions with monthly payment starting December 24 will become the new standard for other licenses from April 2025.

  • Customers must now pay a surcharge of 5% if they wish to pay monthly for an annual contract as before. In other words, only those who pay Microsoft in advance for the whole year will save the 5% costs and remain at the same price as before

The following product categories, among others, are affected by this adjustment:

  • Microsoft 365
  • Office 365
  • Enterprise Mobility + Security
  • Windows 365
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Services
  • Microsoft Power Platform
