Azure Compute & Infrastructure FAQs

There are also a number of questions about Azure that need to be looked at in detail, depending on the customer, scenario or scope. Below are some of the questions we are frequently asked.

What kind of customers do we support?

We have a long list of customers who have purchased or are purchasing Azure services from us, it all started in 2014. This includes both large and small and global customers. Our skillset covers various Azure topics, which underlines our versatility and experience. You can find a few Azure Compute references here.

How can you “buy” Azure?

To use Azure subscriptions you need at least one Azure plan. You can get this plan directly with a credit card or, like your Microsoft 365 licenses, through an IT reseller/partner like us. We provide Azure plans through the Microsoft’s CSP model. You can manage your Azure subscriptions yourself at attractive prices and on account, and also evaluate your resources in cost management. This works via our globally available marketplace.

What about support?

We also offer support options for your Azure solutions. For Severity A issues (with the CSP model), we even offer 24/7 support through Microsoft Azure. We are also happy to help with migrations or on-call solutions by arrangement.

Is Azure much more expensive than local services?

The statement “Azure is much more expensive than using local services” often does not take into account all the relevant factors. Azure eliminates high initial investments and maintenance costs, offers flexible scalability and enables faster introduction of new applications. Security measures and compliance certifications of Azure are often stricter and more cost-effective than local alternatives. A comprehensive consideration of the total costs often shows that Azure can be more cost-effective and advantageous.

Which operating systems are supported on Azure VMs?

Azure VMs support a wide range of operating systems, including various versions of Windows Server, Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, CentOS, and many others.

What are Availability Sets and Availability Zones?

Availability sets ensure that VMs are distributed across different physical servers to minimize downtime. Availability zones provide even more redundancy by distributing VMs across different data centers within a region.

How are Azure VMs billed?

Azure VMs are billed based on usage, based on the size of the VM, the runtime and the storage and network resources used. There are also options for reserved instances that can reduce costs.

What compliance certifications does Azure have?

All compliance information can be found with Microsoft

What migration strategies are there?

Common migration strategies include lift-and-shift (direct migration without modification), re-platforming (minor changes) and refactoring (adapting applications for the cloud).
